No one knew for sure why Thomas and Sadie Brown named their four daughters after wildflowers, but they were untamed beauties all. Still at home in post-Civil War West Virginia were identical twins Ivy Ann and Mountain Laurel, one content to stay at home, the other eager for adventure.
