A DIFFERENT BEAST • Australia-based marine journalist Maurice Kelly covered the global launch of the Maritimo S50 for Boating New Zealand magazine on Queensland’s Gold Coast in late June, also reviewing the new model on the water.

THE BEST ZIG OF THE ZAG • Skyborne wanted a sail up north. I needed some fresh air therapy. Me old shipmate Tony – he of the 1,000 good ideas – was up for it, despite this being mid-winter. And it fell within our new tradition of going cruising on Matariki long weekend. True to expected form, Tony brought along his slippers and hot water bottle.
