The aim of SCMij has always been to utilise multi-disciplinary perspectives to inform theory and practice by empirical research that extends beyond dyadic buyer supplier relations. The journal, like the function and the subject matter must and will continue to evolve, to reflect the changing environment, business dynamic and academic framework that is 'crying out' for a far greater – wider and deeper – erosion of functional, disciplinary and methodological silos. SCMij will continue to lead the charge, reaching out to those who embrace this message and provide a conduit for new ideas, new approaches and discoveries that are thought provoking and challenging yet utterly relevant in the context of an increasingly complex business environment.This special issue comprises 11 contributions that demonstrate the maturity of supply chain management and point the way forward for future research.
