Euphemia Sage and Jane travel to Oakhill Station in the Wairarapa countryside to prepare the financial accounts for the handsome and welathy Joe Kincaide. Joe leaves as soon as they arrive and doesn't return when he said he would. His bird sanctuary is sabotaged, and money is missing from the accounts.
