      Jacob's parents have been missing for several days when he finally confides in his teacher, Deke Shepherd. Concerned about his student, Deke calls deputy sheriff Tara Norwood to see if she can help. Trying not to let their history get in the way, Tara and Deke's main priorities are to find Jacob's parents and keep him safe. But somewhere along the way, they realize their attraction is not only in the past. First, they have to solve the case and then figure out their relationship. Webb (The Bone Room) tells a frightening tale and does an excellent job with character development in this series launch. VERDICT Readers will want to scoop up this book (and Jacob) to take home with them.--Shondra Brown
